I’ve been using a cool theme (Connections) since 2006 and never thought of changing it. I picked it then because it was artistically appealing to me and fitted well with my own header picture – an ancient Chinese work that dates back to Song Dynasty (960-1279).

However, recently when I read my own entries on those pages I felt the font size was too small and the background color didn’t give enough contrast. I guess most readers’ eyes must be strained by those two factors. :P I was told that most Internet readers never read online but browse through articles. Ah… I’m one of them myself!

Now I changed the theme to WordPress default. Simpleness is sometimes more beautiful. ;)

This is the theme I am using, so I still don’t understand your FB comment… The sidebar is standard with mine, maybe it’s different in China?

I really liked your previous style… in particular the header. You could add a header picture to this theme, like I did. That would allow you to customize the header and get something closer to your heart, in terms of culture.

Hello Nadine. Yes, I’m trying to customize the header with my old picture but the link color looks incongruous with the yellow color. Hmmm… I will try to find a solution for this.

What I mean in the FB is that you have a standard sidebar with this theme. But when you visit the post page, like this one, the sidebar disappears!! But you see, I added one using the techniques taught by those posts. Also, I used different sidebars. The one on the main index page is longer but the one on this page is shorter and serves different functions. Have I made myself understood this time? ;)
